Rigore. Texture. Un tenue senso di malinconia. La nuova collezione Marni è austera, con un edge romantico. Ruota intorno ad una idea di equilibrio fuori equilibrio: volume e piattezza, severità e grazia, opacità e luce. Protagonisti sono la precisione delle linee, la fermezza dei tagli, la densità delle superfici. Elementi che interagiscono, creando una narrativa intangibile.
La silhouette esatta, al ginocchio o sotto, unisce romanticismo e rigore puritano. I volumi sono fermi, precisi: si allargano leggermente dalla vita in giù o cadono dritti. Il corpo è insieme protetto e rivelato per scorci. Gli shorts scoprono le gambe sotto blouson scultorei; top e cappotti senza maniche portano l’attenzione sulla delicatezza delle braccia. L’elemento mascolino è evidente nei cappotti e nelle giacche chiusi da zip come tute da aviatore, negli over di pelle accoppiata, nei pantaloni 3/4 dalla piega affilata. È alleggerito da bande trasparenti nascoste dentro le pieghe delle gonne, ammorbidito dalla femminilità di corsetti e pieghe morbide. Al contrario, dettagli di pelle sugli abiti conferiscono fermezza. Piccole cappe indossate su vestiti lunghi e corti regalano compostezza.
La pelliccia è usata come elemento grafico o accento di colore: una banda sulla gonna o sulla mantellina, lunghe stole, grandi colli. Altrimenti, arricchisce l’intricata narrativa delle texture: castorino, alpaca e shansi a pelo lungo aggiungono un elemento organico che funge da contrappunto tattile.
Le stampe sono grafiche e atmosferiche: rami, foreste, paesaggi intrigano lo sguardo, suggerendo sfondi e scenari per altre storie. La palette dei colori è severa, con picchi turbolenti: nero, antracite, blu notte, grigio, tocchi di giallo olio e rosso cupo. Tessuti compatti sottolineano i tagli: tweed, pelle/velluto accoppiati, lane maschili, mohair spazzolato, panno, crêpe.
Accessori pragmatici accentuano lo studiato disequilibrio: alti stivali di vitello o castorino; sandali piatti; flats con punte di pelle metallica. Le borse sono zaini morbidi dal disegno netto con chiusure padlock, duffel geometrici, buste ripiegate in pelle e pelliccia o buste in nappa effetto craquelè con ricami in pietre. Gli occhiali da sole nascondono lo sguardo dietro forme oversize con dettagli scavati.

Alexa Chung DJ’d the launch of the first-ever Marni fragrance at its Meatpacking District boutique. The shop itself, set on a narrow, triangular floor plan, feels as intricately designed as one of Marni’s prints, made for an intimate gathering that included a smattering of insiders and It girls like Tallulah Harlech, Chelsea Leyland, Sofía Sanchez Barrenechea, and Tennessee Thomas hiding underneath a wide brim felt hat.

Guest sniffed trays of the new fragrance that were presented by waiters as if it were a canapé. Distinctly for a woman, with an unexpected base of masculine undertones. Perhaps because smell is so strongly tied to memory, several guests could not help but relay their emotional connections to the unorthodox label. Chung proudly recalled that “Marni shoes were my first-ever designer purchase.”… The wafting fumes of fragrance launches often have a way of leaving partygoers with a faint headache, but I left wondering if Consuelo Castiglioni will ever make a fragrance for men.

At Saks Fifth Avenue, where Ron Frasch and Stephen I. Sadove joined Estée Lauder’s Fabrizio Freda and Veronique Gabai-Pinsky.
Sadove said, “Marni’s an important brand for us and one that has a wonderful following. When they came forward with a fragrance, our team immediately thought it would be a home run. We have it exclusively, it’s our biggest launch of the season, and we’re doing social media, windows and more in support of it.”
Castiglioni noted that her company has had a long partnership with Saks, making the retailer a natural choice for the launch — and would only say of her upcoming collection, “I’m really excited about it.”
